Dear Supporter, Thank you so very much for supporting the 2ND Annual Armed Services Combat Fishing Tournament in May of 2008. Because of your generosity, our second year was a huge success with more than 300 combat veterans participating in the event. In the two short years since its inception, we have managed to create the largest military appreciation fishing tournament in the United States. As the tournament co-founders, Keith and I owe so much gratitude to each and every person and business in Alaska for all of your support. Without people like you this tournament could never have come so far in such a short amount of time. Our country is looking ahead at a very uncertain future. We are all facing some unfortunate and troublesome times and as small business owners ourselves, we can appreciate the need to be cautious and scale back just to get by. We even began to question whether a fishing tournament of this magnitude was even practical for the 2009 season with the current state of economic affairs that our country is undergoing. But then, on February 24th I picked up our local paper and there, on the front page, I read of three very brave young men from Fort Wainwright who were killed in action in Iraq. After reading that article I realized that no matter what, we’re not going to give up on what we started and there will be a 3rd Annual Armed Services Combat Fishing Tournament. We may not be able to give away the abundance of prizes like we did in the past, or get the financial support that we’ve had in the past, but giving up is not an option. We’re going to take our troops fishing… they have never let us down, and we’re not going to let them down. On May 21st of this year, with the support of 30 of Seward’s finest charter vessels and guides, we shall once again honor these brave young men and women of our Armed Services and show our appreciation for the immense sacrifices that they make for all of us. Just like last season, our goal for 2009 is to take more than 300 American Hero’s deep-sea fishing out of Seward, Alaska. We have the boats, we have the crews and we have set the date…now we need your help. Once again, we are reaching out to all Alaskans and the entire Alaska business community to help create a very special day of appreciation for these most honored members of our Armed Services. If you would like to help support the 2009 Third Annual Armed Services Combat Fishing Tournament and make a donation, please contact the Armed Services YMCA 907-552-9622, or Alisa Jemmett at Saltwater Safari Company 907-929-7895, or Keith Manternach at Specialty Truck & Auto 907-244-6231.
Thank You, |
